“Pity and Compassion” 1989
My survival is due to the support of family and friends, so I made this to represent my patron saints. I modeled Pity by looking at myself in the mirror, but I had no model for Compassion, and she didn’t turn out as well.

“In Evan’s Garden” 1989
Early pate-de-verre window, a real toughy to make. Made for my youngest son, Evan, from a drawing he did at school when he was seven. I later learned it was drawn from a picture of Picasso’s “Portrait of Igor Stravinski”. At the bottom, those are all fingers, no matter what you are thinking. Six months to make.

“Pansy Dish” 1991
Each attempt to make the Pansy Dish takes about 60 hours. A reject takes as long to make as a good one. I tried 19 times to make this piece, and 3 were successful.
